New guidance has suggested that Omega 3 fatty acids which are derived from plant matter do not have
the beneficial health implications as those present in oily fish. This is something to be aware of when checking the packaging of such products.

Althought it is true that supplements can benefit those on a depleted diet, particularly children or the elderly, most of the vitamins and minerals we require for good health are found naturally
in foodstuffs. If we eat more natural and raw foods rather than processed foods all our dietary
requirements should be met.

It should be remembered that supplements are simply that - an 'add-on' to
a good diet. All these supplements can be found naturally in foodstuffs.
The UK government via the EU has compelled all artificial vitamins and
supplements to be labelled "may benefit those on restricted diets" - ie,if
you eat well naturally there is no need to take any supplements at all.
