Meditation is an important part of Yoga practices. Meditation or Dhyana is the seventh limb of the Patanjali Yoga Sutra. Meditation helps an individual reach a state of tranquility and the practitioner is rejuvenated with ultimate serenity. Through meditation, one can experience a calm and relaxed state of mind. Highest joy is realized as the practitioner experience the oneness with their own center of consciousness, the Atma.

Kundalini Yoga is a powerful yoga form that focuses on awakening of the Kundalini, the energy of consciousness. Kundalini energy is visualized as a snake coiled up in the first chakra found at the base of the spine (Muladhara chakra). Kundalini energy is one’s potential spiritual energy. As an individual starts Kundalini Yoga, the Kundalini energy rises up the Nadi (Kundalini channels) helping the mortal to surpass the external material pleasure and help him/her achieve a consciousness that brings freedom from illusion (Maya).

Arthritis Treatment and Emotional Release

Arthritis Treatment: Over the years, I have spoken with many people who either have or once had arthritis. One of the most striking things about those who are able to completely heal themselves, is that they have sought healing not just for their bodies, but also at the level of their thoughts, emotions and spirit. I have been struck again and again, how with an illness as difficult as arthritis, it is generally mandatory to address the body, but that alone isn’t enough.

Emotional Release—The Importance

Last December I developed chest congestion, fatigue and a high fever. You could say that I had contracted what half of Phoenix seemed to have caught and on one level you would be right. But there is more to the story. No matter how much I rested, no matter how much I humidified the air, not matter what home remedies I used, and no matter what prescription medicine I took, I couldn’t seem to get over the lung congestion.

About a month into this congestion, I was talking with one of my teachers. She said what I was holding in my lungs was grief. And indeed I was grieving. When I did what she suggested to release grief, I felt a shift. Within half an hour my lungs had cleared enough that I could breathe freely. Within a day they were almost entirely clear.

Arthritis Treatment and Emotional Release—How it Feels

In the case of my successful arthritis treatment, what was hindering me from healing was two underlying emotions, fear and anger, that were stored in my body. They were stored so deeply, that I couldn’t have even told you they were there, until I reached a place during meditation where these emotions started to release.

Just like with the grief trapped in my lungs, when the fear and anger that had been causing my arthritis left my body, what I experienced was a slight shift within my being. If I hadn’t have been paying close attention, I might have missed it. After the shift, there was a sense of more ease in my body and something returning to the way it should be.

With the releasing of grief there was no crying. With the releasing of anger there were no angry words or gestures. With the release of fear, there was nothing other than an uncomfortable feeling leaving my body. The healthful changes in my body were immediate and lasting.

Sometimes we think that releasing emotions involves some sort of big display. Emotions can release in a healing way at those times too, but those sorts of displays don’t necessarily lead to healing. What is critical is not the outward display, but the release inside your being, which can occur whether or not anything is apparent at the surface.
Guided Meditation CDs for Emotional Release

To help people learn this emotional release process, I have created a 6-CD set of guided meditations that teach some powerful and effective ways to do this release work. What I teach I learned through the Buddhist tradition, particularly the Tibetan practice of Tonglen and the ancient Buddhist practice of Vipassana, which is the modern day practice most like what the historical Buddha taught.

Let me guide you through the meditations that were instrumental to the releases of anger that lead to my own healing from arthritis.

Anger leads to inflammation in the body. Releasing it is critical to deep healing of arthritis. It is better than any anti-inflammatory drug. I recommend adding it to your arthritis treatment program.

How to Have An Instantaneous Spiritual Awakening

November 5, 2009 by

It is possible to have an instantaneous spiritual awakening. And the process is quite simple.

If you do the following exercise with your complete attention, you can have an instantaneous spiritual awakening that can move you beyond the experience of body and mind identification to the experience of the Self. You will experience yourself as formless, conscious energy.

The first thing to understand is that you cannot realize the Self through the senses.

You cannot taste the Self, see the Self, hear the Self, smell the Self and you cannot touch the Self.

Consider this:

You have your eyes open.

You see and then label what you see.

You think ‘This is my body. This is my computer. I am using my hands to type on the computer.’

And so your mind immediately labels everything you see and you automatically assume that these labels are true. You see your hands; you call them your hands. And they appear very physical, very solid and separate from the keyboard that you are typing on.

But close your eyes and be still.

From this point of stillness tell me about your hands. Without moving them or looking at them. If you can’t see them, then where and what are they?

You can say that you feel your hands resting on your mouse or keyboard. But what is that feeling? What is the sensation that you are calling your hands?

In order to have an instantaneous spiritual awakening, you have to forget the defining that they are your hands and actually experience what is here beyond the words. Experience what is here beyond the thinking. Beyond the five senses.

With your eyes closed, forget the defining of your body and experience what you refer to as your body.

Not a part of your body but the whole thing.

With your eyes closed, there is the sensation that you are here, but instead of defining it as a body, as a name, simply feel it. Feel the sensation of what is here.

Feeling without touching. Feeling without using words. Do this now.

Here you experience something that you cannot define, you cannot accurately describe.

Because what is here does not have boundaries and cannot be described by the senses.

But there is an experience of existing.

There is the awareness of existing.

Here, existing and awareness are one and the same. You cannot separate these three things. You are here, you are aware that you are here.

This is not something that you can learn or understand. You have to close your eyes, let go of thinking and experience it right now.

Close your eyes and notice your experience of existing in this moment. You will instantaneously experience that what you are is not solid. What you are does not have boundaries. In fact, it feels like formless energy.

Here, you have moved beyond the mind and body. You have had an instantaneous spiritual awakening.

And you will see this spiritual awakening is not a state that comes and goes.

This experience of existing beyond the mind and body is what is always here.

Now it is just a matter of keeping your focus here. Keeping you focus on this experience of yourself beyond the body and mind. The experience of formless energy.

If you followed this exercise, then you easily had an instantaneous spiritual awakening. And every time you practice this simple exercise, this feeling of the Self beyond mind and body will become more apparent, more clear and more blissful. It will lead to even greater spiritual awakenings.

Blessings,

Kip”

A Psychic Reading Meditation – How to Prepare Yourself For A Psychic Reading

November 1, 2009 by

Before receiving a psychic reading, it is advantageous to give yourself some time to meditate. Meditation particularly done prior to a psychic reading will make a big difference on how you accept and comprehend the advice you will hear from the psychic medium.

When you meditate before your psychic reading, you are allowing both your body and mind to settle easily into it. You are calming your body from the anxiety created by any preoccupation or thoughts you have about the psychic reading – what you may hear, what you can find out, and what answers will be given to you.

When you meditate before your psychic reading, you are also opening your mind. You are clearing it from any preconceived notions and other thoughts that may preempt you from understanding the information as you should. In the process, you are also opening the mind to receive knowledge and information in the way they should be seen.

Here is an easy meditation practice which you can work with. Just follow these 7 simple steps and you will have a relaxed and opened mind when you have your psychic reading.

1. Sit down in a quiet location where you will not be interrupted.

2. Relax each part of your body. Start with the top of your head going down to your toes. Feel your muscles easing down, but do not slouch. Close your eyes.

3. Bring your focus to your breathing. Breathe slowly. Observe every inhale and exhale.

4. Whenever you exhale, feel your mind clearing. Each exhale symbolizes expectations and preconceived beliefs leaving your mind. Your mind becomes similar to a room being completely tidied up to make space for new items.

5. When you have fully cleared your mind, just carry on with the observation of your breathing. Maintain this tranquil and relaxed state. It is similar to quietly waiting for something to arrive. Take a few more minutes sitting down, then you can prepare to go for your psychic reading. Remember to maintain this tranquil and relaxed state, free from all the thoughts you have let go earlier.

6. In the course of your psychic reading, just focus on obtaining information. Make notes if you want, but do not add your thoughts yet; just take in the information without any additional personal insights from you.

7. After your psychic reading, take care of the things you will need to do or attend to right away. For anything that requires decision-making or deliberation, take note of your ideas first, then sleep on it. In the morning, you will be in a better state of mind and have a refreshed view of things.

It is very crucial to have a clear and open mind before, during, and after your psychic reading because it will be easier for you to obtain knowledge and understand information the way you should. This means that your thoughts are not dimmed or limited by what you only wish to see, or by the worries that prevent you from moving forward.

You might also be given totally unexpected and startling information during your psychic reading. Having a clear and open mind lets you to accept them more readily . It also makes it easier for you to adjust and work around any changes that may occur.

Most importantly, when you meditate prior to your psychic reading, you also develop your inner wisdom. You more easily understand things that did not make sense to you before. You begin to see the purpose of certain things – what their roles are in your life and why they need to happen. When you meditate before your psychic reading, you are allowing yourself to embrace all the things in it that will contribute to your growth and progress towards a better life.

Tana Hoy has been giving psychic readings for the past 15 years. He became known when he predicted the Oklahoma City bombing 90 minutes prior to its occurence, on a live radio show. You can learn more about Tana Hoy by visiting his website.

Autism Symptoms – Play Activities

October 31, 2009 by

The mutilation of social relations and communication skills in children with autism symptoms becomes more clear through play behavior. While the lack of social interaction and speech can occasionally be missed in the home surroundings (not all children vocalize and interact at the similar level at similar age), poor relations with other kids of a similar age is a important sign of potential autism.

Due to the lack of social consciousness, the autistic child might appear to rather playing alone. The affinity of the autistic to meeting point on an object, for instance, may be clear in a simple activity like playing with a toy truck. While it appears that the child is certainly playing with the truck, in reality he might be more interested in the turning of its wheels.

Indeed, the more or less characteristic ritualistic play of the autistic child does not let for natural interactive play, as a change in routine may cause an unsuitable outburst. The lack of spontaneity also preclude any role-playing or “pretending” type of play relating other children.

Also, the child with autism who is prone to anger tantrums may find it very hard to interrelate with other children, who may avoid him because of it. In addition, the extra stimulation of having others about may overcome the child, who may be extra sensitive to noise. Unsuitable attachments to objects may also preclude sharing toys with other children. His inability or reluctance to make eye contact with others may be disturbing enough to cause other children to avoid him, as is the lack of the capability to smile spontaneously.

Lacking an attention in the activities of others’ emotion and activities, the child with autism misses out on the feelings of enjoyment derived from imaginative social play. Moreover, play is an vital means of learning about the world around him and the autistic child misses out on these life education.

Over 26,000 children are diagnosed with Autism EACH YEAR … But accurate and reliable information is hard to find, until now! See the latest research, tips, training and resources at http://autismsymptoms1.com/go.php?offer=nazri97&pid=1

Activities To Build Self Esteem

October 29, 2009 by

I have designed some activities to build self esteem that I would like to share from an excerpt of a series of lessons I am designing on “mental self defense strategies”.

Dream Busters ~ Recognizing Resistance~

We have all suffered some forms of conflict or abuse in our lives. But here’s what I discovered: it is how we react to that abuse that will strengthen or weaken us. Everyone has dreams, right? How many of us have had a dream kicked to the curb? Can you remember what you wanted to be? Or do you have a dream right now tucked away in the back of your mind?

Have you ever been convinced to walk away from your dream by people who managed to throw enough self doubt at you to win that war of attrition; the constant day in and day out negative input that pushes you to give up your dreams and conform to something you’re not! “What are you nuts? You can’t do that!” “Oh there’s another hair brained scheme!” “Get Real! Go get a real job!” “Who do you think you are? You aren’t something special, stick to the things you can handle.” “ What are you stupid or something? Why do you think you can do that?” Lambasting you with negativity and giving you the message “ Who are you to become an author, or an inventor, or any number of other things your dreams may lead you to?” The litany goes on and on.

Often the words that sting the most come from the people closest to us, I once heard that negative words were sixteen times more powerful than positive words and especially if they come from people you love. Many of us have heard similar comments from our own families. And remember that “family” is not just relatives but our closest circle of influence, the people that influence you the most in your life on a day-to-day basis.

We must learn how to reinforce our mental immune systems. As you are just opening up to re-affirming and re-discovering your dreams it is important not to leave yourself open to Dream usting attacks. Often when you are in the early creative process you want to share that with the people closest to you, but too many times you get shot down by those around you and can be stopped before you even begin. We already have to deal with our own internal dream busters, voices from our past that can wreak havoc in our present.

It is amazing how many of us constantly go through life creating speaking and thinking negative affirmations all day long to ourselves, instead of doing activities to build self esteem, we practice activly breaking it down: “I always do that, I’m so stupid, etc.” causing our ill emotional and mental states, yet we often have such an aversion to the idea that positive affirmations will have the same impact (but in the desired direction.) Pessimism and negativity are a much more accepted form of self-talk. Recognizing it can be difficult. Sometimes it takes the form of a mental pause where suddenly you start to doubt yourself, and your dream seems to waver. Perhaps you start to wonder about your own ability.

Become aware of this and catch it at that moment, realize that it is a trigger. Learn to recognize when you are being “infected” by those around you by noticing those moments of self-doubt when they arise. It is here that the use of positive affirmations can be very useful. Often we find that our three biggest enemies are “Me, Myself and I.” Basically the limitations that get dumped on us from an early age get internalized so we then have to deal with internal as well as external “Dream Busters.” So who and what are they?

Activities To Build Self Esteem:

Activities To Build Self Esteem: Exercise 1:

Write down the 3 top Dream Busting phrases that really get to you, that make you contemplate kicking your dream to the curb, it is different for everyone, but usually there is at least one that just sticks in your craws so to speak.

Activities To Build Self Esteem: Exercise 2:

Write down the 3 top Dream Busters in your life (people who just don’t get it, they could be trying to “help” but only harming, or, as unfortunately can often be the case, they may be malicious and just trying to knock you down). These are usually the source of the phrases you came up with in the first exercise. Who says those things to you, where do they come from? Or if it is internal, where did it come from originally? The point of the exercise is to begin to recognize Dream Busters in all forms so you can build up defenses to counteract their influence in your life.

Activities To Build Self Esteem: Exercise 3:

Now finally, take a good hard look at these sources that you have written down and ask yourself, are these people where you want to be? Have they accomplished what you dream about doing? I will tell you now that the answer to that question is most often a resounding no! You can’t learn how to swim from a drowning man. Think about this: are these people who really have something to offer, or just people with so much to say and nothing to offer themselves?

You are a power unto yourself, and nobody can truly take that away. It is only when we allow other people power over our dreams that we hand over the keys to our future.

4. Promotes Freedom and Flexibility

In today’s stressful world, life sometimes seems to take over and it can often feel like we are prisoners to our own world. Meditation promotes flexibility and freedom in life by helping us to step back and observe our experiences rather than being wrapped up in them. This opens our minds to other ways of seeing our world and empowers us with the freedom to make other choices we previously were not aware we had.

5. Increased Insight and Intuition
